GARTER STITCH PATTERN

When you are knitting every row in your knitting swatch, you are creating most basic knit stitch pattern, the Garter Stitch. Doesn’t get any easier than this!

When you are Knitting one row, then Purling the next, you are creating the Stockinette Knit Stitch Pattern.

This vintage Andalusian Knit Stitch Pattern is a sweet little update of the above Stockinette Stitch.

1×1 RIB STITCH PATTERN

The 1×1 Rib Stitch looks a lot like the Stockinette Stitch but it’s really super stretchy and it’s identical on both sides. On the right and wrong side, it looks exactly the same.

PIQUE RIB STITCH PATTERN

This Pique Rib Knit Stitch Pattern is a great way to create the depth of ribbing while allowing your piece to easily lie flat.

DIAGONAL RIB STITCH PATTERN

This Diagonal Rib Knit Stitch Pattern is a great way to create the depth of ribbing while allowing your piece to easily lie flat.

REVERSE RIDGE STITCH PATTERN

The Reverse Ridge Stitch pattern has the stretchy rib pattern horizontally rather than vertically. With a series of knits and purls, this is a reversible pattern that’s super stretchy, but unlike most rib stitches, this accordion stretch is horizontal.

SEED STITCH PATTERN

This Knit Stitch Pattern is called the Seed Stitch because the raised bumps from your PURL stitches resemble seeds. It creates a really pretty and sturdy piece of knitting.

The Seed Stitch is great for knitting scarves, hats, blankets, sweaters and even knit neckties!

Cast On an Odd Number of Stitches

All Rows: * K1, P1 *, K1
(repeat pattern within * *, ending with K1)

IRISH MOSS STITCH PATTERN

The Irish Moss Stitch, also called the American Moss Stitch, is similar to the Seed Stitch, with a thicker texture. It’s nice and squishy, too.

DOUBLE MOSS STITCH PATTERN

This Double Moss Knit Stitch Pattern is a simple pattern that adds great texture. A variation on the Seed and Irish Moss stitches, it is also called the Two Stitch Check or Box Stitch.

HURDLE STITCH PATTERN

This Hurdle Stitch Pattern is a sweet knit and purl combination.  It resembles the hurdles jumped in track class, by horses… or the Olympics! You can see that it’s identical on both the right and wrong sides, so this is also a reversible pattern.

The Basket Weave Knit Stitch is really impressive. It looks like your pattern is actually woven like a basket, but it’s really just a combination of knit and purl stitches row after row.

GARTER CHECKERBOARD STITCH PATTERN

This vintage Garter Checkerboard pattern is a combination of garter and stockinette stitch patterns, blocked together. It looks really intricate to knit, but it’s actually quite simple.

WAFFLE STITCH PATTERN

The Waffle Stitch also has a really fun texture, and syrup is optional. This yummy Waffle Stitch Pattern, with its series of knits and purls, resembles one of our favorite breakfast treats! You are sure to love this easily memorable, all-around stitch for your fashion and home decor knitting projects.

This Flag Knit Stitch Pattern has such a beautiful depth of texture. The terms Pennant Stitch or Triangle Stitch are also used to describe this Flag Stitch pattern.

CATERPILLAR STITCH PATTERN

Another fun one is the Caterpillar stitch because the raised purl stitches make a little shape like a Caterpillar. Cute!

It is a perfect pattern for light summer knitting and it’s very modern. This pattern is perfect for dishcloths or anything you can dream up.
