About the Tile Squares Stitch

Knit up a visually interesting design with this easy 6-Row Repeat Knit Stitch Pattern, using a simple combination of knits and purls. Create each square tile with 4 stitches and 5 rows, resting atop a ridge of textured purl stitches.

This pattern is an excellent choice for scarves, blankets, and pillows.

Does it curl?

Because the majority of this texture is in the smooth Stockinette, it does have a tendency to curl up. A border of Garter Stitch is useful, as well as lightly blocking to help it lay flat. I simply add two rows on the top and bottom, as well as 2 knit stitches on each side.

When is best to change yarn?

If you wish to change yarn colors without purl dash lines, I suggest doing so on the first row of the 6-row pattern repeat.

Is it reversible?

This is not a reversible pattern because the right side of the work displays the design, but you can see that the wrong side (back) does not.
