Tile Squares Stitch Knitting Pattern

This Tile Squares Stitch Knitting Pattern creates blocks of Stockinette separated vertically with a rib of Seed Stitch and a horizontal ridge of purls.

An easy 6-Row Repeat Knit Stitch Pattern knits up this visually interesting design using just a simple combination of knits and purls. As a result, it is a great choice for knitting up scarves, blankets and pillows.

Tile Squares Stitch Texture

Each square tile is created with 4 stitches and 5 rows. They rest atop a ridge of textured purl stitches.

Does it curl? Because the majority of this texture is in the smooth Stockinette, it does have a tendency to curl up. A border of Garter Stitch is useful, as well as lightly blocking to help it lie flat. I simply add two rows on the top and bottom, as well as 2 knit stitches on each side.

Is it reversible? This is not a reversible pattern because the right side of the work displays the design, but you can see that the wrong side (back) does not.

When is best to change yarn? If you wish to change yarn colors without purl dash lines, I suggest doing so on the first row of the 6-row pattern repeat.
