Tassel Stitch Knitting Pattern

The Tassel Stitch Knitting Pattern creates a beautiful texture of alternating rows. It is a 12-Row Repeat Knit Stitch Pattern and an intermediate-level project.

This design is a great choice for knitting up textured blankets, scarves, and pillows.

This is not a reversible pattern because the right side of the work displays the design, but you can see that the wrong (back) side does not. 

Get all of your materials, techniques, with written and charted pattern instructions, both flat on straight needles and in the round on circular needles below.

Feel free to use any size yarn and needles for your creative project. My stitch sample was created with size 7 US knitting needles and worsted weight yarn, along with a Tapestry Needle and Scissors.

Tools

  • Knitting Needles - Appropriate Size for Yarn
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Scissors

Instructions

FLAT ON STRAIGHT KNITTING NEEDLES

Cast On in Multiples of 6 + 1 Stitches

  1. Row 1 (Right Side): * K4, P2 * K1
  2. Row 2 (Wrong Side): P1 * K2, P4 *
  3. Row 3 : * K4, P2 * K1
  4. Row 4: P1 * K2, P4 *
  5. Row 5: * Right Needle Btwn 4th & 5th stitches and draw through loop, K1, P2, K3 * K1
  6. Row 6: P1 * P3, K2, P2TOG *
  7. Row 7 : K1 * P2, K4 *
  8. Row 8: * P4, K2 * P1
  9. Row 9 : K1 * P2, K4 *
  10. Row 10: * P4, K2 * P1
  11. Row 11 : K3 * Right Needle Btwn 4th & 5th stitches and draw through loop, K1, P2, K3 * end with K1, P2, K1
  12. Row 12: P1, K2, P1 * P3, K2, P2TOG * P3

  4. Row 4: * K4, P2 *, K1
  5. Row 5: * Right Needle Btwn 4th & 5th stitches and draw through loop, K1, P2, K3 * K1
  6. Row 6: * K2Tog, P2, K3 *, K1
  7. Row 7 : K1 * P2, K4 *
  8. Row 8: K1, * P2, K4 *
  9. Row 9 : K1 * P2, K4 *
  10. Row 10: K1, * P2, K4 *
  11. Row 11 : K3 * Right Needle Btwn 4th & 5th stitches and draw through loop, K1, P2, K3 * end with K1, P2, K1

Notes

Repeat Pattern between * *

Repeat Rows 1 – 12 until your piece is the length you desire and then Bind Off.
