Blanket Construction

The Pescadero Harvest Blanket is knit flat in one piece. You will cast on your stitches, work the checkerboard texture across the blanket, then bind off and weave in your ends.

Reversible Stitch Texture

The Pescadero Harvest Blanket is an enlarged version of my recent Checkerboard Triple Weave Stitch, adapted into a cozy blanket design. Because the stitch pattern is reversible, both sides of the blanket look nearly identical.

This reversible texture uses a simple combination of four beginner-friendly stitch patterns:

• Border in Garter Stitch
• Blanket Body in Seed, Stockinette, and Reverse Stockinette Stitches

Together, these stitches create a checkerboard design with smooth and bumpy blocks. This larger blanket scale gives the texture a warm, woven look inspired by the harvest rows of Pescadero’s coastal farms.

Local Inspiration in Pescadero, California

This blanket is named for Pescadero, a favorite local coastal farming town along California Highway 1, south of my knitting studio. The area’s produce fields, tucked between the Pacific Ocean and rolling hills, grow coastal favorites like artichokes, strawberries, and pumpkins. Those tidy harvest rows inspired this blanket’s warm, woven design.
