How to Knit a Football

  • Yarn in any weight with 2 or 3 colors of your choice

Tools

  • Knitting Needles: Set of 4 double-pointed needles in the appropriate size for you yarn choice
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Scissors
  • Stitch Marker – I just use a scrap of yarn with a slip knot
  • Poly-Fil Stuffing

Instructions

KNITTED IN THE ROUND

Long Tail Cast On 6 stitches divided onto 3 needles (2 Sts per needle) in Main Color (MC).

BEGIN INCREASE ROWS

  • Round 1: * KFB, K1, KFB * twice (10 stitches)
  • Round 2: Knit All
  • Round 3: * K1, KFB, K1, KFB, K1 * twice (14 sts)
  • Round 4: Knit All
  • Round 5: * K2, KFB, K1, KFB, K2 * twice (18 sts)
  • Round 6: Knit All
  • [Switch to Contrasting Yarn Color]

  • Round 7: * K3, KFB, K1, KFB, K3 * twice (22 sts)
  • Round 8: Knit All
  • Round 9: * K4, KFB, K1, KFB, K4 * twice (26 sts)
  • Round 10: Knit All
  • [Switch Back to Main Yarn Color]

  • Round 11: * K5, KFB, K1, KFB, K5 * twice (30 sts)
  • Round 12: Knit All
  • Round 13: * K6, KFB, K1, KFB, K6 * twice (34 sts)
  • Round 14: Knit All
