HOW TO MAKE A THUMBPRINT WEDDING TREE GUEST BOOK
A Thumbprint Wedding Tree Guest Book is a wonderful alternative or addition to the traditional wedding guest book to remind you of your special day. And most importantly, everybody is involved in this project and creating it with you, so it’s a really great reminder of the support and love that you received on your wedding day.
And I personally am recently engaged! This is actually a project that I will be using in my very own upcoming wedding. It is a Thumbprint Wedding Guest Book.
The materials for our Thumbprint Wedding Guest Book are a canvas, acrylic paints in your wedding colors, paintbrushes, ink pads, and stencils.
HOW TO PAINT YOUR OWN GUEST BOOK
To begin, cover your entire canvas with paint. For my background, I’m using a lot of white paint with a bit of yellow and grey. Painting it, rather than leaving it blank, gives your entire canvas and the tree you paint over it a more professional and painterly look.
In that same main color, paint the shape of your tree. And if you need to start over, just brush it into the background and start over. Once you have your tree shape, start painting your tree trunk. Your color choice is totally optional.
You can add the names or initials of the wedding couple with stencils, along with their wedding date, too.
WEDDING DAY GUEST BOOK TIPS
On the big day, set up your canvas and ask guests to add leaves to your Wedding Guest Book. You may wish to assign a friend to help guests out. Make sure to have wipes on hand to clean off their inky thumbs.
You may wish to have your guests sign their leaf, too. Make sure the ink is totally dry before they do so.
WEDDING PLANNING TIP
As a newly engaged bride to be myself, I am a big believer in managing our limited resources of time and money. This is a really inexpensive project to make ourselves. If you feel stressed for time, but would love to have a Thumbprint Wedding Guest Book, share this video and ask an artsy member of your wedding party to make it for you.
