The wedding industry is undoubtedly exhaling a huge sigh of relief with today’s announcement of Pantone GREENERY, the 2017 Color of the Year! Unlike the babyish hues of 2016’s Rose Quartz + Serenity or the deep burgundy brown of 2015’s Masala, 2017’s Greenery is sure to be embraced by today’s brides, grooms, and wedding planners alike, informing the color selections of all the wonderful weddings coming down the aisle!
Not only is this one of my own personal favorite colors, but this fresh, vibrant green color dictated my own recent wedding’s color palette this year, and we couldn’t have been happier!
When to Use Greenery: Greenery is the perfect color choice during the spring and summer and anytime you wish to bring the outdoors in, as it immediately gives your entire wedding a fresh, joyous, and modern feel.
Keeping Your Venue in Mind: When selecting our wedding’s overall design, we first allowed our venue’s environment to inform our perfect color-scape. Our springtime wedding location was in the rolling hills along the coastline of Northern California in a beautiful nature preserve, Marin’s Headlands Center for the Arts.
Is Green the New Beige? Just as Pantone explains that “greenery is nature’s neutral,” we, too, considered this gorgeous shade of green our “neutral” color. Both our floral and food choices naturally included gorgeous pops of green. Selecting decor items like stationery, linens, florals, aisle runner, ribbons, and more with touches of that same vibrant color immediately enhanced their beauty.
Select Complementary Colors to Make Greenery Pop: Pantone offers a variety of Greenery Color Pairings. Check them out while you get creative with additional choices rounding out your color palette. You just may be surprised how greenery goes with so many different colors! With greenery as our base, we looked to the surrounding wildflowers and added touches of springtime yellows, golds, oranges found the rolling hills above.
Go Greenery! I hope you are inspired by our recent wedding using Pantone’s 2017 Color of the Year: Greenery!
