Today, we are going to be making these Pantone Paint Chip DIY Calendars.
In celebration of the New Year, I am designing a knitted calendar to schedule upcoming Studio Knit Videos!
I first fell in love with this craft idea when my sister made a similar DIY calendar with designer paper. Then I saw so many cool Pantone Swatch or Paint Chip Calendars on Pinterest and realized that a knitted version would be really cool.
2017 is shaping up to be an artsy year!
This is a great yarn busting project and a useful home décor calendar to hang with pride!
Make 35 swatches in any colors.
Each swatch is knitted from the bottom-up.
• Worsted or Aran Weighted Yarn
White: 50 yards
Colors: 96 yards total, 8 feet per swatch
• 2 – Size 8 US Knitting Needles
• Tapestry Needle
• Frame – 16” x 20”
• Dry Erase Marker (mine is brand Sharpie, sized Medium, color White, Water-Based Paint Marker)
To knit our color swatches, first cast on nine stitches with our white yarn.
And we will knit two rows.
Now switch to your color yarn and knit row three.
Rows four through ten are in the K1, P1 Seed Stitch. Since we cast on an odd number of stitches, K1, P1, we start that on every row. If you loose count while knitting, just count 7 rows of the seed stitch, and then you’ll know when it’s time to bind off. And the bind off and weave in your ends.
Once you have made 35 of these cute knitted swatches, arrange them in any way you chose.
Write monthly calendar text with dry erase marker. Mine is brand Sharpie, sized Medium, in the color White, it’s Water-Based Paint Marker and it wipes away with a damped cloth to start the month anew.
I hope you give this fun DIY project a try.
