VIDEO TUTORIAL for the Basket Weave Stitch Pattern
Cast On in multiples of SIX. We will complete our basket weave pattern by knitting twelve fun and easy rows.
We begin the series with Row One, which is simply knitting six. So, everything, since we cast on in multiples of six, everything will the be in just Six Stitches. And then you just repeat those six over and over until you get to the end of the row.
On row two, we are going to purl six. Which is purling six stitches over and over until you get to the end of the row.
Now with row three, we are going to knit one, and then purl four, finishing with knit one.
Row Four. On this one, purl one, and then we knit four, and finish with purl one.
Row Five. Now this is a repeat of row three. So, it is just knit one, and then we purl four, finishing with knit one.
Okay, row six. Now, row six is a repeat of row four. So it is just purl one, knit four, and purl one.
Awesome! We half way through!
So, on row seven, it is Knit Six again, so we just knit all the way across the row.
And on row eight, all we are doing it purling. So just purl until you get to the very end of your row.
Okay, so now we are going to change things up a bit with row nine. We are going to purl two, knit two, and purl two.
Here on row ten, we just do the opposite of that. It is knit two, then purl two, and we finish with knit two.
Okay! Rows eleven and twelve are just repeats of what we did with rows nine and ten.
So on row eleven we just purl two, knit two, and then purl two all the way until you get to the end of the row.
And here on our last row, row twelve, it is just knit two, purl two, and knit two.
Awesome. You have just learned how to create the basket weave stitch!
