The Garter Stitch is one of the most basic Knit Stitch Patterns. You KNIT every row. It is easy to knit, reversible, lies flat, and is stretchy. The Garter Stitch is great for knitting a scarf.
Before learning the Garter Stitch, first learn how to create a Slip Knot, Cast-On your stitches, and knit the Knit Stitch. Check out my Knitting Lessons Playlist for instructions!
Start by casting on as many stitches as are required by your pattern.
For your first row, simply knit. On your second row, knit again.
Keep knitting row by row until your piece reaches the length you desire. At that point, you will need to Bind-Off.
